Home Page TopWhat's new !Visit to Germany in November, 2003

Last Updated : December 2003

At the end of November we visited 4 companies in Germany as Klocke Nanotechnik, Wilh. Lambrecht GmbH, Kappa opto-electronics GmbH and nanotools GmbH. We had meaningful meetings with them and we want to use theses experiences to support customers.

Klocke Nanotechnik : In Japan there is no suitable nanotechnology elements which act in an electron microscope under the low temperature, then the Nanomotors are used as one of actuators by some researchers. However the Nanomotor® cannot be easily applied in some cases and then this application needs a know-how. For this purpose we visited Klocke Nanotechnik, which locates in the industry area near the border of Belguim and the exit of the Autobahn in the suburb of Aachen.

According to Dr. Klocke the application of his NMT modules is getting bigger market. It is because the NMT modules are easy to use and we have seen some NMT stages with PMS (Position measuring System) under the final factory check. These NMT stages can be used in any position, vertically and/or horizontally, and driven with fine and /or rough positioning. The movement is very comfortable.
We were taught some remarks during the movement of Nanomotor itself and gotten the information about the lifetime of the Nanomotor. We understand that the system sales are the priority over the sales of the Nanomotor itself, but we told Dr. Klocke that we should help also researchers who have problems in nano-technology.

Wilh. Lambrecht GmbH : which locates in Goettingen city and was established in 1859. The name of Lambrecht is famous among the meteorology people. The Automatic weather station is installed near the main gate and the live weather report of the Goettingen is announced always in his home page.

LambrechtThe 10 m main mast for the wind measurement is based on the WMO standard and 3 Drum recorders for temperature, humidity and so on are working in the large instrument shelter near the main gate. There is a big parking lots of 100 cars in own site and there are 200 employees in the golden ages.
In the factory tour we have seen machining, assembling and inspection. There are still hand-made parts and we are surprised to see the human hair check, which was used for a Polimeter (Humidity measurement) developed by the company's founder Wilhelm Lambrecht in 1877. A wind tunnel is also installed and Cup Anemometer and Quatro were checked.
When we visited, the service seminar of Automatic weather station was opened for the meteorology people in Iran and we attended the seminar. We were explained about the general meteorological instruments and got finally the Certificate of the attendance.

Kappa opto-electronics GmbH : which locates in the suburb of Goettingen city and they show the clean and calm buildings in the fields.

Herren Kasten & IlseWe have met Mr. Kasten ; Sales Director and Mr. Ilse ; Export Manager.
Firm Kappa has just revised his home page and we have talked about a sales strategy in Japan.
Sales branches using his original CCD cameras are divided into the following categories.
(1) Machine vision
(2) Scientific imaging
(3) Medical imaging
(4) Defense and (5) Forensic

KappaThe demand of cameras in Europe is OEM business (For example, there are 20 cameras are built-in a Airbus and they check the conditions of the aircraft and passengers.) whose quantity is about 30 sets per year and which is applied by his original CCD cameras.@The customer shares one of the development cost, and Firm Kappa finds customers not only in Germany but also in the world.
Concerning the medical imaging the combination with cameras and special lightening are marketable, CCD cameras for X-Ray are sold to OEM partner who makes medical examination bed with C-frame.
In the forensic branch Firm Kappa have delivered many systems to the Federal Police Agency (Bundeskriminalamt, BKA), which is similar FBI in the USA, in Wiesbaden. Especially for the bullet marks one special system was developed by BKA, Karlsruhe Technical University and Kappa and it will be a new and powerful analyzer. In China they take great interest in a criminal investigation and they have bought many Kappa's systems for the similar Police Agency in Beijing. If we find Japanese customers who are interested in, Firm Kappa helps us to visit these facilities in China and/or Germany.
Our sales strategy is specialized to sell a value-added systems than standard ones, which are in competition with Japanese manufacturers.

nanotools GmbH : which was founded in 1997 as a spin-off of the Center for Nanoscience (CeNS) in Munich. As one research result of HDC (High Dense Carbon) technology they can manufacture a tip, which is used for AFM probes, and the tip is made to any desired geometry and functionality. Comparing the conventional silicon sensors this HDC tip has a very long lifetime as 100-1000 times. So we are selling these HDC tips drawing a line between conventional silicon tips.

nanotoolsNot only in Japan but also in the World a nano-technology has met the prosperity right now, the sales amount of the HDC tips are growing up every year. Last year they moved to the center of Munich city from the CeNS site of Munich University. The office is near the Marienplatz, which is very famous place for Japanese tourists and in which there is new City Hall. The office has manufacturing and inspection facilities in basement, but there is no vibration effect from the metro. At the front of the nantools' poster by main entrance the right is Dr. Irmer ; CEO and the left is Mr. Kriele ;Managing Director Product Development.
Each machine for inspection and manufacturing is operated and there are still manufacturing facilities in CeNS. They are planning to install one machine for manufacturing here in this office next year. They are ready to deliver the standard tips in Germany within 48 hours.
They have renewed the company logo and homrpage recently. We have also sold tips to Japanese customers and we want to expand this business this year.
