September 2002 : Development from 'Nanomotor' of Klocke Nanotechnik

At the beginning The piezo actuator expands by applying a voltage, but the stroke is so small. The developed 'Nanomotor'® is a new linear motor that combines the precision of a piezo actuator with a positioning stroke of Millimeters. A small size leads to compact positioning solutions with high mechanical resonance frequencies for Micro- and Nanotechnologies, e.r. Scanning Tunneling Microscopes, xy-tables, fibercouplers, actuators for microsystems, Nanomanipulators or 3D-posotioning systems and grippers for handling and assembly of microparts.

SPM (Scanning Probe Microscopy) Nanomotor products are useful utilities in Scanning Probe Microscopy. They can move the sensor with nanometer precision or move the sample. The Nanomotor is a perfect tool to solve the main two problems n Scanning Probe Microscopy.
1) How can I bring my sensor to the sample and not into it ?
2) How can this be done without buying a granite table ?
Additionally the coarse step mode allows scanning heads with up to a centimeter of stroke. The sensor can be a structuring tool at the same time. The following examples are realized with products from Klocke Nanotechnik.

Reference list in Japan For Electron Microscopy the 'Nanomotor'® are delivered to Nagoya University, Osaka University and Tokyo Institute of Technology, and is ordered by National Institut for Material Science. Some inquiries are made by laboratories and universities. The original Nanomanipulator was also delivered a few years ago.
