No.7 : Japan Men was defeated in the Preliminary Games.
(August 15, 2004) This time Japan Men got attach chanches, but they couldn't recover 3 lost points in the first half. Of course Pelizzoli Ivan(ITA GK) is a strong player on defence. Japan Men need good and accurate strikers at first. The lost of this game meant that Japan Men was defeated in the Preliminary Games, and they couldn't have a dream to get a medal in the olympic games since 1968 Mexico Olympic Games. In this game Japan also 3 lost points in the first half, and Japan lacks concentration from the beginning. They still have a last game against Ghana on august 18 and we, soccer fans in Japan wish that Japan will draw the game against Ghana in the worst case. Today's Results Men Group B : (Thessaloniki) Paraguay 1-2 Ghana Group B : (Volos) Japan 2-3 Italy Group D : (Athens) Costa Rica 0-2 Iraq Group D : (Heraklio) Morocco 1-2 Portugal
No.6 : Nigeria Women burn Japan Women in sunny Athens (1-0).
(August 14, 2004) Japan Women was beaten by Nigeria Women at the score of 0-1 in a Group E clash at Karaiskaki Stadium in Athens today. China and Mexico drew the match at the score of 1-1 on the same day, then Japan can go to quaterfinals by good luck. It is decided that German Women in group F and USA Women in group G can go to quaterfinals too. Women Football : August 14 in Athens / JPN 0-1 NIG Japan didn't hava games recently with a team like Nigeria, whoes members have height, speed and personal technique. And Japan has lost its vigor as 1st match with Sweden. We hope it is not Tomomi Miyamoto's injury. However Japan must regain its balance, otherwise Japan cannot survive the preliminaries. Today's Results Men Group A : (Athens) Korea Republic 1-0 Mexico Group A : (Thessaloniki) Greece 0-2 Mali Group C : (Heraklio) Serbia & Montenegro 1-5 Australia Group C : (Patras) Argentina 2-0 Tunisia Women Group E : (Athens) Japan 0-1 Nigeria Group F : (Volos) China PR 1-1 Mexico Group G : (Heraklio) Greece 0-1 Australia Group G : (Patras) USA 2-0 Brazil
