Greece won the European Championship 2004 !(July 4)

Greece beat the host-country Portugal 1-0 in final match. Greece got only one chance and Charisteas headed the goal from the corner kicked ball. Around 80 minute has passed, a wild fan invaded the pitch and fouced the referee to stop play 5 minutes. He threw the flag at Portugal star player Figo, then he ran straight into the Greek Goal like ball. However Portugal couldn't get a goal and failed. Greece had never won a game at a major championship before EURO 2004 but Greece did. German referee Markus Merke blew the final whistle. Then German coach Otto Rehhagel as Greek coach won the first foreign coach this time. EURO 2008 will be held jointly in Austria and Switzeland. There are also Olympic Soccer games this year and World Cup Germany in 2006 for soccer fans.
