Halle's Standard Series 2058 will be replaced by Series 4058.

Master 2058Master 4058 Halle's Roughness Standard Series 2058 will be displaced by Series 4058 step byh step. According to the manufacturing technique for the Super fine surface finish standard the grinding surface is improved and Firm Halle has potential to develop a new standard. The measuring space is 17mm in length and 5mm in width having the irregular grinding profile, which is repeated with aperiodic length from 2mm to 4mm.

Sales of the Calibrating Standard 2080 for a Stylus and/or an Optical Roughness Measuring Instrument

Master 2080 The tendency toward the roughness measurements by Optical surface measuring instruments such as confocal and interference microscopes is increasing. Because the optical system is getting faster than the stylus measuring system. Moreover almost such microscopes can calculate the roughness parameters according to the ISO and/or JIS Standards. However it is not clear that the results are the same as the Standards. The Standards were made to meet the requirements of the Contact type roughness measuring instruments using the stylus, not to meet the optical microscopes. The comparison between the stylus and optical system got many results but it is not easy to satisfy with those results. There is a reason that the horizontal resolution of the optical systems is not enough sensitive and the tracing length of the Standards is not obtained.
This newly announced Standard 2080 has grooves on the surface and calibrates the depth. Special features are:
    1) The measuring routine of optical microscopes software is on the
assumption of the flat measuring surface, so the measuring
surface of 11mm diameter and the base surface of 40 x 20mm
are adjusted pararell to both surfaces each other.
    2) The groove has an oblique groove flank, which gives the clear
results under the measurements by optical microscopes.
    3) The high reflectivity gives a better S/N ratio to optical microscopes.
    4) There are the following 6 grooves.
    0.24, 0.75, 2.4, 7.5, 24, 75 µm

April 2003 Sales of Halle's Standard 2070 for Super Fine Surface Finish, Germany

Master They are the measurement standards for Surface texture Profile Method according to JIS B0659-1:2000 (ISO 05436-1:2000). The traceability during production process is required under the ISO 9000 series. The traceability cannot obtain without a standard. Firm Halle in Germany have manufactured some standards that are calibrated the PTB (The Physical and technical federal laboratory in German) long time ago. In 2001 and 2002 all Japanese standards related with surface texture profile method (contact stylus instruments) were revised and JIS B0659-1 (ISO 5436-1) "Measurement Standards - Part 1 : Material Measures" was newly established in Japan. Several standards are decided as the measurement standards and Firm Halle manufactures depth measurement standards and roughness measurement standards.
The machining is getting more precise, then it is the big theme about quality assurance and quality management of the super fine surface finish. If the stylus radius of a surface texture measuring instrument has 1µm difference, then the measured values will differs largely in the nano-scale world. The manufacturers except Firm Halle cannot manufacture the super fine roughness standard for the stylus instruments, whose values of 20-100nm in Ra and 100-500nm in Rz.
The body of the standard 2070 are made of a hardened stainless steel of dimensions 40x20x10mm. There is a 7mm diameter part, made by hard nickel plated, inserted on the standard, they have an irregular and arch lathed measuring surface profile which repeated every 1.25mm in longitudinal direction of the standard. The measuring length is total 4mm. Crosswise to the measuring direction of the standard, the lathed profile on the measuring surface have a constant profile form.
They are 3 kinds of standard, Ra with 25nm...Type No.2070/03A1/Pk, 50nm...Type No.2070/03A2/Pk and 80nm...Type No.2070/03A3/Pk, and are all sold with the documentation certified by the PTB.

What are the Halle's Calibration Standards ?

    Calibration Standards for Stylus instruments

Firm Halle-Präzisions-Kalibriernormale GmbH, Germany manufactures measurement standards for contact stylus roughness testers and can deliver it with PTB Certificate. The traceability is required in production line for ISO 9000 series. The Halle's standards are used for calibration of roughness testers in production lines too. In Japan recently many Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) for roughness measurement are revised according to the standardization of ISO. The Halle's standards are conformed to JIS B0659-1:2002 (ISO 5436-1:2000) "GPS-Surface Texture: Profile Method; Measurement standards-Part 1". Firm Halle manufactures Type A2, Type D1 and Type D2 in conformity to JIS (ISO).

Depth Standard 2060 and Roughness Standard 2058

    Master 2060

Master 20580 Under the ISO 9000 series which are Standards for Quality assurance and Quality control the traceability during the manufacturing process is requested and the roughness measurements are the same. The Depth Standard 2060 and Roughness Standard 2058 are the same as JIS B 0659-1 "GPS - Surface texture : Profile Method ; Measurement standards - Part 1 : Material measures" or ISO 5436-1 or the standard of PTB, German National Laboratory.
This depth standard is calibrated according to SI unit and the stylus movement of Stylus instruments are traceable to SI Units. The Depth Standard 2060 is 40 x 20 x 10 mm made by glass and the calibrated depths are located in the center area. The Depth Standard has 2 kinds, 6 grooves and 3 grooves as the left and center drawings. The 6 grooves is Type No.2060/01/6/Pk and they are 0.25/0.6/1/3/6/9 µm. The right interference fringe shows 3µm depth. The 3 grooves is Type No.2060/01/3/Pk and they are 1/4/9 µm.
The right drawing is the Roughness Standard 2058 for calibrating the roughness parameters is 40 x 20 x 10 mm made by hardned Stainless steel. The measured surface has an irregular profiles repeated in 4mm length. The irregular profiles can be check the waviness and the effect of the stylus radius comparing standards whose profiles are sine waves profiles or pyramidal wave profiles. The certificate shows the using Gauss filter and 3 roughness parameters as Ra, Rz and Rmax. Ra with about 0.2µm is Type No.2058/01A1/Pk, Ra with about 0.5µm is Type No.2058/01A2/Pk and Ra with about 1.5µm is Type No.2058/01A3/Pk.
