Receipt of the Agent Certificate in Japan for A.G. Davis-AA Gage

Official sales agent We were selling the precision index table called "Ultradex®" and manufactured by AA Gage in Japan. Last year we were talking about this "Ultradex®" with an engineer of a customer and have fixed the specification after several discussions per E-mail. Then we were asked about this inquiry by the purchase department whether we are the sole agent or not. We had some experiences to sell "Ultradex®" to Japanese customers, however we have not yet discussed about this distribution issue with Manager of Firm A.G. Davis - AA Gage, after AA Gage joined with A. G. Davis. We answered the customer that we are not a sole agent but we can directly buy "Ultradex®" and do the after sales service in Japan. However the customer bought it through a Japanese company in the States, then the manufacturer had to sell it to him. It is unfair, because we have decided the specification after discussion with the customer’s engineer. The Japanese company knew only the Type Number of the "ULTRADEX®" and he could buy it and sell it with his lowest commission. We are not big, so we cannot take the responsibility to be a sole agent in Japan. But the manufacturer wrote for us the Certificate of the Sales Representative in Japan. We can of course sell all products of Firm A.G. Davis - AA Gage, and we will do our best with our good faith to the customer who contacts with us as in the past. Please watch and ask us with warm look, thank you.

Order of the Groove Gage from the Aviation Industry

Ag Davis-AA Gage Groove Gage Catalogue It is the must that contractor must use the same measuring instruments used in the original contractor for the inspection in the Aviation Industry. This time we were given the part drawing with conditions using an A.G. Davis Groove Gage and a Federal Indicator. But this order is the 2nd time for the customer, so he asked us also some modifications that were proposed by a field operator. We sent the drawing and requirements to Firm A.G. Davis - AA Gage and got the quotation. At last we could place an order of a Groove Gage with Federal Indicator and with customer's modifications.

We have made the leaflet about A.G. Davis Groove Gage in Japanese as the left photo. If you want it, please ask it to us per E-mail.

We want to hear your requirements per E-mail.

First Order of the Groove Gage

AG Davis-AA Gage Groove Gage A trading company asked us whether we can import the A.G. Davis Groove Gage, after he saw our web site. According to him the end use uses the Groove Gage as the photo of the right side, and the gage was engraved the name of A.G. Davis on it. The end user wanted to change the dimension. We were importing the "Ultradex®" of AA Gage, however we had not yet contacted with Firm A.G. Davis - AA Gage, after AA Gage joined with A.G. Davis. And we begun to contact with Firm A.G. Davis - AA Gage, we could place an order after several E-mai exchanges, and we could deliver the Groove Gage without a problem. After this in the future we were recognized to import the goods from Firm A.G. Davis - AA Gage directly.

What is the Ultradex made by AA Gage ?

Ultradex Gacegear Firm AA Gage was established in 1937 and the company name comes from Absolute Accuracy. The company is not big but unique and has a main office in Michigan and a factory in neighboring Indiana. At the beginning the company manufactured gages ordered by small companies located near automobile industry in Michigan. In 1953 the company announced the rotary indexing table with Hirth (Face Gear) Couplings and got a patent as "Ultradex®". The Hirth Couplings are made by two ground and lapped serrated master plates that engage with each other for positive locking and positioning. High accuracy and repeatability are achieved through the natural averaging effect of all teeth in meshed contact. The repeatability of any particular angular position is better than 1/10th arc second and the rotational angular accuracy is better than 1/4th arc second. The meshed couplings establish a very rigid coupling when in the clamped position and form a solid column of steel acting as an all-in-one table and has maximum rigidity, whose rigidity cannot compare to other indexing tables. There are 2 types, Horizontal unit (Vertical axis) and Vertical unit (Horizontal axis). The "Ultradex®" is designed to accommodate a wide range of inspection and machining applications - including circle division, radial milling, broaching, contouring, grinding and 4th-axis machining.
Firm Moore Tool Co., Inc. in Connecticut, that is famous for Jig grinding machine and Jig boring Machine in Japan, was self-manufacturing a 1440 indexing table under AA Gage's license.

Facegear Mesh Precision Indexing Table called the "Ultradex®"

The principle of index is as follows. There are a fixed table and a rotating table, both are mounted face-to-face with the 2 face gears equipped with the same diameter, the same number of teeth and the same tooth profile as the left photo. Then 2 face gears unmesh as the right photo, and a rotating table is moved teeth pitch and mesh. The angular position corresponds with the teeth pitch. That is, 360 serration per 1 rotation (360 degree) means an indexing table with 1 degree and 1440 serration means an indexing table with 1/4 degree (15 minutes). As described the above, high accuracy and repeatability are achieved through the natural averaging effect of all teeth in meshed contact. When manufacturing of course, the teeth have a natural tendency to conform size, shape and pitch during grinding and lapping with random combination of serrations. The meshed couplings establish a very rigid coupling, and so the table is used for machining. Therefore Firm Moore Tool Co., Inc. employed this table as the jig for machining.
    Angular accuracy : ± 1/8 arc second
    Repeatable accuracy : ± 1/20 arc second
    Number of Serrations (Angular index) : 180 teeth(2 degree), 360 teeth(1 degree), 720 teeth(0.5 degree),
       1440 teeth(0.25 degree)
    Other Number of serrations : 120 teeth, 280 teeth, 375 teeth, 400 teeth, 512 teeth, 672 teeth, 1024 teeth, 1350 teeth
    Table diameter : 5"(127mm), 7"(177.8mm), 8"(203mm), 10"(254mm), 12"(304.8mm), 18"(457mm), 24"(610mm), 36"(914mm),
       48"(1219mm)
Examples of the "Ultradex®" : from the left : 5 inch Mechanical polygon=360 Polygon Mirror, 8 inch "Ultradex®" Vertical unit,
       12 inch "ltradex®" Horizontal unit
